Speaker, facilitator, and trainer helping prevention leaders create measurable impact
Dave Closson is a nationally recognized speaker, facilitator, and trainer, and the founder of Prevention Leaders Network and DJC Solutions, LLC, an SBA-certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business. With more than a decade in substance misuse prevention, leadership development, and facilitation, he helps state agencies, nonprofits, and community coalitions turn strategy into measurable impact.
Dave's path into prevention began as an Army combat veteran and university police officer, where he saw firsthand the challenges communities face. He served as founding director of the Mid-America Prevention Technology Transfer Center, has trained and spoken for DEA, SAMHSA, and NASPA, and has presented internationally, including at the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs in Vienna.
He hosts the Prevention Leaders Podcast and the Pathways 2 Prevention Podcast, holds a master's degree in Technology Training and Development, and is the author of "Motivational Interviewing for Campus Police" and "Collaborative Leadership in Substance Misuse Prevention: A Facilitative Approach." His work is guided by empathy, innovation, intentionality, positivity, and authenticity.
Dave's approach
Every program uses what Dave calls facili-training: a blend of facilitation and training that puts participants to work on their own context rather than sitting through a lecture.
Participants leave with tools they have already used, plans they have already started, and clarity on their next step. Sessions can be customized for a conference, coalition, state system, or organization, in person or virtually.
“The coalition is the vehicle. The community's health is the destination.”
